For a visitor with no interest in the festival itself, the relevant fact is availability. There are roughly three periods when hotel rooms in South Beach genuinely run out rather than merely getting expensive: Art Basel week in early December, Miami Beach Pride in April, and Winter Party in early March. What it means on the ground

The main beach event takes place on the sand, with a fenced footprint and ticketed entry, which temporarily removes a section of public beach for the day. The rest of the beach stays open and free.

Getting the month right

Early March in South Beach is the best weather of the year: dry, in the high seventies, low humidity, and the water beginning to warm after the winter. It is also the month with the most competing pressure on rooms, streets and restaurant tables.

If you want the weather without any of the crowds, April and late October do the same job. If you want the festival, plan it as a trip in its own right and book accommodation within walking distance of where you intend to be at 2am, because the causeways and the rideshare queues are the part people underestimate.
